Stratum IV:
Den of Winds

Shadowverse Magachiyo and her son, Hien, once led the Verdant Ring, a secret syndicate deep in the forest.
One day, upon learning the truth about their woodland ancestor and advisor,
she assassinated them and left in disgrace.
Now, imprisoned in Azvaldt, she plots a jailbreak so her son can take her head
and claim his rightful place as leader.
Shadowverse: Worlds Beyond Standing in her way is the enforcer
Wimael—none other than her son, Hien,
transformed by a curse.
Though freed from the curse, he seeks to uphold the code of honor
and justice instilled in him by his mother, and fulfill his duty by piercing her with the arrow of reason.
  1. Forestcraft

    Sprouting Initiate (unevolved)

"Power should not be used to bully others, but to create a canopy of protection. Never forget our code: honor and respect."
The scolding of my mother stung to a rootless and bossy brat. Now fully grown, I will be sure to honor you, Mother.

    Forestcraft

    Sprouting Initiate (evolved)

When my father died in a turf war, the Verdant Ring was shaken to its core. That night, my mother held me close, and her arms felt like the roots of a mighty tree.
"It’ll be all right, Hien. I'll protect you."

  2. Forestcraft

    Leafshadow Assassin (unevolved)

"Do not expect the same lenience of our predecessors."
Under Magachiyo, a new and terrifying age of the Verdant Ring began. Any hint of her past gracefulness was gone—it was as if she was grafted onto my father.

    Forestcraft

    Leafshadow Assassin (evolved)

She was once a woman who kept to the code and loved growing flowers. Now, through her actions, she showed me how pruning begets growth.
"Let this smoke act as a reminder to you fools: The Ring belongs to Magachiyo."

  3. Forestcraft

    Verdant Ring Kindred

"Honorless fools. Do you think numbers alone can take us?"
"Unleash your incense. The mist will not sway my arrows."
"I can hardly believe you're the same boy who used to cry over every mistake."
"I honed my skills so I wouldn’t cry anymore. Allow me to show you just how far I've come."
  4. Forestcraft

    Virid Lieutenant (unevolved)

"The advisor to the Verdant Ring has withered at my hand."
The commotion that swept through the forest was even greater than the day my father died. She met all questions with silence, and departed in acceptance of whatever judgment would come.

    Forestcraft

    Virid Lieutenant (evolved)

My mother's rebellion resulted in the pruning of dishonorable customs. Plans to invade and settle outside of the forest were cancelled, as was the export of dependent seeds. In the aftermath, the Verdant Ring was reborn.

  5. Forestcraft

    Crimson Incense

"What a shot. You truly are your father's son. The Ring will be safe in your hands."
On our first assignment together, one of my wind arrows dispersed my mother's crimson incense. This misfire left her injured, but she laughed. I always thought she was just trying to make me feel better.
  6. Forestcraft

    Magachiyo, Aromatic Convict (unevolved)

The longer a tree lives, the more its branches drain away its life. While you may prune the errant branch, you must not lay a hand on the tree itself. That is to say, we who remain can no longer walk under the Sun.
    "Choke the world, Crimson Incense."
    Forestcraft

    Magachiyo, Aromatic Convict (evolved)

Forget about righteousness and filial piety. The fact of the matter is I broke the code, and justice must be delivered. It's your duty after all. So come now, take my head, young master Hien. Show your mother just how much you've grown.
  7. Forestcraft

    Hien, Redolent Revenant (unevolved)

It's a pleasure. I hail from the Evergreen Grove, and was born in the dew of the Verdant Ring, where the code took root in my heart. My talents in wind reading and archery have earned me the title of "The Piercing Wind." And from this day forth, my arrows are yours, Elder Sister.
    Forestcraft

    Hien, Redolent Revenant (evolved)

All of us, even those who live in the darkness, must keep to the code. You instilled this in me from my youth. So wait for me in hell, Mother—I'll be sure to massage your shoulders when I arrive.
"Be bathed in clouds of sin and winds of punishment. Scatter the blossoms, Wiltpetal."
